Tracks & clips
- Lanes — a video lane and an overlay lane (audio / caption lanes round-trip for future rendering). Each lane holds clips placed on a px-per-second canvas.
- Add clips from your Library; drag to reposition; drag a clip’s edges to trim its in/out.
- Split at the playhead and Remove the selected clip from the toolbar.
- Inspector — fine-tune a clip’s start, in/out, and scale numerically.
Video preview (synced to the playhead)
The preview player shows exactly what the timeline holds at the current time:- As you move the playhead, the preview loads the active clip on the video lane and seeks to the matching source frame; overlay-lane clips are layered on top.
- Transport controls — play / pause, mute / volume, frame-step, a seek scrubber with current time and duration, and fullscreen.
The preview is an assembled, real-time approximation (it switches clips at their boundaries).
The pixel-exact composite is produced by Render.
Zoom & navigation
- Zoom in/out with the toolbar, or hold ⌘/Ctrl and scroll to zoom toward the cursor — from a whole-project overview down to frame-level precision.
- The playhead auto-follows during playback while zoomed in, paging the view so you never lose it.
- Click or drag anywhere on the ruler to seek; the waveform lane scrolls in sync with the tracks.
- An audio waveform under the tracks makes it easy to cut on the beat or to dialogue.
